Footbridge
(work in progress) Private, Inverness-shire
unseasoned oak frame, stainless steel fittings. Total span 17m.
A private residence realised as a self-build project by the client The buildings represent polarised aspects of life: utility and whimsey; life and existence; intimacy and extension. The bridge crosses between the two, part of both but articulating transition. A slender tree structure springs from the rock outcrop to support the heavy bifurcated deck, enclosed by sprung oak balusters that reference interlaced branch and leaf forms.
