Pergola
2004 Private, Wiltshire

unseasoned UK Douglas Fir, stainless steel rope and fittings. 12.5x2.6x2.8m high (max).
The reversing open-sided pergola provides a physical and visual break across landscaped grounds, and incorporates simple seating towards views in both directions. The plan geometry of the pergola responds to existing landscape features: arcing around an isolated Liquid Amber and leading to a woodland path beneath the boughs of a weeping Larch. The central transition creates a garden window, framing views towards the sundial.
