A positive environmental contribution is fundamental to our work. We use softwoods and hardwoods from certified sustainable
sources and promote the use of locally sourced timbers. We encourage project enquiries from clients with their own timber
and have completed one Forestry Barn using client timber milled on site.
In 2009 we commenced EWGS aided management of a neglected 18 acre Ancient Semi-Natural woodland in the Hertfordshire
Chilterns for biodiversity benefit and small scale timber supply.
We utilise the natural durability of the timber in combination with good design and detailing to avoid the use of preservative
treatments. Species used include Douglas Fir, Larch, Western Red Cedar, Oak, Sweet Chestnut and Ash (internally).
Appropriate species are selected to suit the specification for each project. No finishes are required to ensure the durability
of the timbers and any exposed timber will ultimately weather to an attractive grey patina.
